I'm often reminded of how lucky we are where we live and today is no exception. Our first visitor of the day was a beautiful male pheasant who strolled past the front door emitting his distinctive two-note call. I managed to grab my phone and take a snap shot before he disappeared into the bushes, but he could be heard croaking under-cover for some time afterwards.
The bushes bordering our garden are home to a multitude of wildlife; squirrels, muntjac deer and a wide range of birds. Many a time one of us has been pottering outside and startled a deer into running out just a metre or two ahead of us.
Maybe our visitor has come for the free food. The Wildlife Trust states on their website that they eat seeds, berries, leaves and insects, all of which are in abundance here - some of which we provide and which the 'locals' have to come to expect.
This is another quick snapshot taken recently in the garden. We were about to top up the bird-feeder and had poured seed into a jug in preparation. This cheeky robin saw his chance and flew down to help himself within seconds.
